- Born in 1957, Louisiana guitarist David Doucet has been a cardinal member of the Beausoleil band for more than three decades along with his fiddling big brother Michael Doucet. The first album to appear under David's name came together in January 1990 in collaboration with several fine country and bluegrass musicians including members of Beausoleil. Near the end of January 1999 David Doucet recorded 1957: Solo Cajun Guitar, a beautiful album of acoustic guitar solos that convey the intimacy of a leisurely breakfast with an old friend. At times he sings softly in the Cajun patois while performing modest miracles in the manner of Doc Watson, Guy Van Duser, Clarence White, Roger Mason and Richard Fontenot. This exceptionally fine music has therapeutic qualities and may be administered as a sort of nerve tonic. Choice cuts are the "Lake Arthur Stomp," the "Cajun Waltz," the "Port Arthur Waltz," "Bayou Sorrel" and the "Midland Two-Step." ~ arwulf arwulf, All Music Guide
